Scope and Contents of the Materials

This collection contains a bibliography of Johnnie Jo Dickenson’s work, as well as Huntsville Item newspaper articles written by and about Dickenson and pertinent publications.

Collection Historical Note

Jonnie Jo Dickenson is a local professional genealogist and researcher with over 35 years of experience. Mrs. Dickenson instructed Basic and Advanced Genealogy courses at Sam Houston State University. She has also written several books, on topics such as Walker County probate, census, and funeral home records. She is an active member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Daughters of the Republic of Texas, and many other historical organizations. Mrs. Dickenson often shares her expertise on genealogy with the community through courses at the Huntsville Public Library. Johnnie Jo Dickenson currently serves the local court system locating missing heirs in estate cases, as well as serving as an expert witness.
