Scope and Contents of the Materials

National Aeronautics and Space Administration was established in 1958 by then president Dwight D. Eisenhower.  The government agency has been responsible for many manned and unmanned missions, such as launching the first American satellites into Earth orbit and sending probes to explore other planets within our solar system.  NASA has also focused on learning about Ozone depletion in 1975.

The Collection of NASA Materials found its way to Sam Houston State University Special Collections in two parts in 2007.  The first batch of materials was donated by Mrs. Robert Everline.  Her husband, Robert Everline, worked with NASA 1961-1982.  The second batch of materials was ordered by Cheryl Spencer of SHSU Special Collections for display purposes.
