The collection is primarily composed of Newspapers and Magazines relating to President John. F. Kennedy’s assassination.  There are some publications that focus on Jacqueline Kennedy, Kennedy children and family, and Lee Harvey Oswald.

Collection Historical Note

John F. Kennedy was sworn into office on January 3, 1961 as the 35th president of the United States of America.  He was assassinated November 22, 1963.  The accused was Lee Harvey Oswald, who would be killed just two days later by Jack Ruby, a local nightclub owner, as he was led through the basement of the Dallas Police Headquarters.  Ruby claimed he shot Oswald because he wanted to save the Kennedy family from enduring the trial.

John F. Kennedy left behind his wife, First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy, daughter Caroline, and son John F. Kennedy Jr.  His funeral was held at the Cathedral of St. Matthew the Apostle, and he was laid to rest in Arlington National Cemetery on November 25, 1963.
